Abstract

Heutagogy is an innovative educational approach that places the learner at the center of the learning process. Its concepts and foundations seek to promote autonomy, self-regulation and individual responsibility in the act of learning. In this context, the objective of this research is to analyze how the implementation of the concepts and foundations of heutagogy influences the development of autonomy and self-oriented learning in contemporary educational environments. To this end, a bibliographic methodology was used to investigate the concepts and foundations of heutagogy. The results indicate that heutagogy, in its essence, recognizes that learning is not an isolated event, but a continuous process that occurs throughout life. Students are encouraged to monitor and control their own learning, reflecting on their progress, adjusting their strategies, and setting their goals. Its concepts and foundations challenge traditional approaches to education, recognizing the importance of adaptation, self-regulation and collaboration in the formation of autonomous and motivated individuals. Ultimately, heutagogy offers a new educational paradigm that empowers students to become independent, adaptable learners in an ever-changing world.
