Abstract

The following paper brings to the reader the results achieved in a researched made Fundação Joaquim Nabuco, which had as its main objective bring forth resources to the educational policies which aim the betterment of civic integration, and pursuing the reinforcement of behaviors that are compromised with ethical principles and which contribute to a civic coexistence and to the promotion of social justice. The referred research resulted in the necessity of questioning an idea present in the national culture and seen as a distinguishing mark of the Brazilian character, which is, that we are a people inclined to subverting the requirements of the civilized world, an idea explored by various authors through  categories such as cordiality, brazilian way, patrimonialism, trickery.
