Gilberto Freyre: O Caminho da Casa-Grande

O artigo em questão procura discutir a obra de Gilberto Freyre, tomando como eixo básico a relação entre o antigo e o moderno e a maneira singular como o autor a compreende, enfocando também os pontos comuns existentes nas suas análises feitas desde os primeiros escritos, anteriores a Casa-grande & senzala. Nessa perspectiva, ressalta a importância da obra de Freyre no debate sobre a crise da modernidade e da construção de um novo olhar sobre a história, na tradição iniciada pelos Annales. This article intends to discuss Gilberto Freyre’s work by taking as its fundamental base the relationship between the old and the new and the particular way through which the author understands it. The text also focuses the common points found in Freyre’s analysis since his first works, previous to Masters and Slaves. From this perspective, this text stands out the importance of Freyre’s work in the debate on the crisis of modernity and of the building of a new conception of history in the tradition that started with the Annales.
