Abstract

The impact of the pandemic triggered an escalation in the death of pregnant and puerperal women, with major challenges for surveillance and health care. The study aims to discuss the training of health professionals in maternal, child and fetal death surveillance in the context of the covid-19 pandemic. Addresses the challenges of multidisciplinary teamwork in identification, updating, and production. The development stages of the course are presented, from its conception and implementation, updating of the didactic material, the pedagogical follow-up process through a teaching training network and the contributions to the training of health professionals. The epidemiological scenario demanded the intensified use of digital information and communication technologies, training and support for tutors-teachers and greater reception for professors and students to create an environment that favored teaching-learning activities. The qualification of surveillance actions and the work of mortality committees has become even more relevant and necessary to face the pandemic. Commitment to the continuous development of the course constitutes a way of linking theoretical and practical knowledge with the social and institutional needs and, above all, of the workers involved in the process.
