A indumentária em tempos patriarcais

Abstract

RESUMO O texto analisa do ponto de vista socioantropológico freyriano a representação social da moda no Brasil. Tenta responder ao que acontecia, em tempos patriarcais, na vida íntima dos nossos antepassados capaz de se refletir na indumentária. Aborda os trajes, os calçados, o uso de joias em sua relação cultural com a metrópole portuguesa, com a herança africana e com os rituais da vida civil, apontando mudanças, rupturas e continuidades. ABSTRACT This article examines the Freyrian socio-anthropological point of view of social representations in regard to fashion in Brazil. It attempts to portray of what intimate life of our ancestors was like in patriarchal times by reflecting on their attire. The paper addresses garments, shoes, the use of jewelry in cultural relationship with the Portuguese metropolis, African heritage and the rituals of civic life, demonstrating change, rupture and continuity.
