Abstract

Starting from an episode that occurred on the beach with himself, in which the author confused a boss (black) with his employee (white), the article discusses, in a first part, the relevance of considering mistakes of this type as acts of racism, due to not to belittle black people, but to the phenomenon known as “statistical discrimination”. In a second part, it discusses the relevance of considering as racist speech the use of terms and expressions that, whether in their etymology or in their semantics (as is the case of the verb “clarify” and its derivatives), nothing allows us to consider that they have origin in racist practices or whose use indicates color prejudice.

Keywords: Racism. Statistical discrimination. Racist speeches.
