The central proposition of this article is to recognize the way in which the discourse of legal truth takes effect in the Brazilian justice system. The study is based on Max Weber's elaborations on the sociology of domination, where, among other themes, he investigates the unseen links in the relations established between politics and law. The understanding we have from this is that the phenomenon of legal truth is built by emanations of power and discourses of truth. The effectiveness of this conviction, as something to be followed without suspicion and capable of obtaining social support, requires a specialized bureaucratic apparatus.
