Resumo

RESUMO Os trópicos se caracterizam pela diversidade de vegetação, de animais e abundância de água além da luz solar como fator de alta potencialidade de vida. Ao lado dessas potencialidades, existem as limitações do ambiente físico tropical, como: os solos de menor fertilidade do que os da região temperada; as chuvas abundantes que provocam a erosão; a temperatura elevada, não estimulando a atividade física, e a reduzida ingestão protéica dos povos tropicais. Desse modo, o problema do subdesenvolvimento do baixo nível científico e tecnológico foi atribuído aos fatores limitantes do ambiente físico e à inferioridade racial. Entretanto, essas limitações podem mesmo ser superadas ou alternadas, mediante a aplicação racional de recursos científicos e técnicos de caráter humanista, o que confirma a importância do fator economia na elevação do nível econômico social nas regiões tropicais. Nos trópicos, a nutrição é condicionada pelo clima, solo e outros fatores de caráter econômico, sendo a pobreza o fator predominante da subnutrição. A agravante do problema nutricional, devido à poluição, está tornando o ambiente físico em relação ao ar, água, solo e alimento, insuportável. A África ainda se constitui numa das poucas regiões tropicais em que o seu ambiente físico é favorável à vida animal e vegetal. ABSTRACT Nourishment and tropic. v. 4, n. 1, p. 73-81, jan./jun. 1976. There is an interdependence among the man, the society and the factors, that characterize the ecology and their rapid changes created by the man, causing disastrous results that compromise all humanity. The tropics are characterized by the diversity of vegetation, of animals and abundance of water besides the sun light as a factor of high potentiality of life. On the side of these potentialities, there are the limitations of the tropical physical environment, as: the soils of lower fertility than those of the tempered region, the abundant rains that cause the erosion, the high temperature not stimulating the physical activity and the reduced proteic ingestion of the tropical people. That way, the underdevelopment problem and the low technological scientific level was attributed to those limiting factors of the physical environment and to the racial inferiority . Those limitations however, may even be surpassed or alternate, depending on the rational application of scientific and technical resources of humanist character, which confirms the importance of the economic factor in the enhancement of the economical social level in the tropical regions. In the tropics the nourishment is conditioned by the climate, soil and other factors of economic character, poverty being the predominant factor of the undernourishment. The aggravation of the nourishment problem, caused by polution is transforming the physical environment in relation to the air, water, soil and food, unbearable. The Africa still constitutes one of the few tropical regions, where the physical environment is still favourable to animal and vegetable life. Il y a une inter-dépendance entre l’homme, la société et les facteurs que caractérisent l’écologie et ses changements accélérés crées par l’homme, provocant des résultats désastreux qui compromettent toute l’humanité. Les tropiques se caractérisent par la diversité de la végétation, des animaux et par l’abondance de l’eau, ainsi que par la lumière du soleil comme facteur de haute potentialité de vie. A côté de ces potentialités, il existe les limitations du milieu physique tropical comme: les sols de faible fertilité les pluies abondantes qui provoquent l’érosion, la température élevée qui ne stimule pas l’activité physique, et l’ingestion protéinique réduite des populations tropicales. Ainsi le problème du sous-développement et du bas niveau scientifique et technologique a été atribué à ces facteurs limitatifs du milieu physique et à l’infériorité raciale. Cependant ces limitations peuvent même être supérées ou alternées, par l’application rationelle de recours scientifique et techniques de caractère humaniste, ce qui confirme l’importance du facteur économique dans l’élévation du niveau économique-social dans les regions tropicales. Dans les tropiques, la nutrition est conditionnée par le climat, le sol et d’autres facteurs de caractère économique, la pauvreté étant le facteur prédominant de sous-nutrition. L’agravation du problème nutritionnel, par la pollution, transforme le milieu physique en relation à l’air, à l’eau, au sol et aux aliments, en un milieu insupportable. L’Afrique est encore une des rares régions tropicales dans laquelle le milieu physique est encore favorable à la vie animale et végetale.
